About

Our Story

At the heart of this studio is a shared belief in clay as a way of living, learning, and connecting. Ivonne and Norbert each bring their own histories, skills, and sensibilities to the wheel and worktable, united by a love of making and a deep respect for the creative process. Together, their practices reflect both individual voices and a partnership shaped by curiosity, care, and joy.

Ivonne’s relationship with clay began early and grew into a lifelong passion after discovering the pottery wheel in college. Since then, clay has become both her medium and her language—one she continues to refine through ongoing classes, and workshops with local and internationally recognized artists. For Ivonne, pottery is a practice of curiosity, growth, and calm, rooted in a love for creating functional pieces that bring beauty, intention, and joy into everyday life. Glazes play a central role in her work, offering endless opportunities for exploration and surprise.

Ivonne teaches from her home studio in Frederick, Maryland, and at a local studio in West Virginia, offering private lessons and workshops. Her teaching style is warm, flexible, and deeply student-centered. Whether someone is new to clay or building on existing skills, she creates an encouraging environment where confidence grows and curiosity thrives. Known for her creativity, compassion, and easygoing humor, Ivonne is passionate about helping others enjoy the process of making something meaningful with their own hands.

Norbert is a natural artist whose creativity has been a constant throughout his life. From writing and illustrating children’s books at a young age to working on the pottery wheel today, his work is guided by imagination and care. He creates thoughtfully crafted, functional pottery meant to be used and lived with, and he especially enjoys hand-building pieces that explore texture and form. Sharing creativity—particularly with children—is central to his practice, as he loves fostering confidence, curiosity, and joy through art.

Their love for pottery evolved alongside their love for each other.
